a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Flying Low...

at high speeds the Garmin that Hubby purchased but did not know how to set nor read was used only to indicate his speed.  Hubby named the GPS Hoss after Hoss Cartwright and talked to him a lot along the way as if it were poor Hoss's fault we were the idjits.
The skyline was beautiful in Oklahoma City but I couldn't help but remember the disaster that happened just a short distance and time away in Moore and other places.  We began to see some destruction.  I felt the sadness and loss all over again for the people of Oklahoma.
The underpasses were beautiful but while traveling at the speed of light my camera and brain did not have time to catch up enough to show the beauty in Oklahoma City.
Reaching our sorta half way mark Hubby decided to push the limits and just see if we could make it to Amarillo before dark...and that, my friends, is another story.
Can you tell we are having a relaxing wonderful vacation???  The Griswolds all over again.

Oh I am sure Hoss, hubby and you had a great time.
It makes me sad seeing what the poor people in Oklahoma have had to deal with.
I cannot wait to see where Hoss takes you. Hug. B

ha,ha I love the Griswolds and of course "Hoss" was always one of my favourites. I love that TM named the GPS. Yes, The sadness of loss in that area was tremendous and we saw some of it on the news, but you know Gail, people have this drive to "Yep, to rebuild and move on" As hard and tragic as the loss ever is, there is this human element deep within all of us to move on. Mostly it is strong enough, but sometimes not. I am enjoying your "fly by holiday" and cannot wait for your next flight. I also love your sense of humor. Have a great day and hi to TM.

Hoss : ) My favorite was always Adam!
Reminds me of my vacations as a child. They all went by in a blur as my father drove from point A to point B at the speed of light. My mother caught every blurry moment on her 8mm camera and then later moved them to VHS complete with Johnny Cash music to serenade them !!!! What family treasures they are.

I yell at our Garmin...she really doesn't know too much...except how to pull me off a perfectly respectable road and send me off on little side trips. If my dh wouldn't believe every word she says, we would get along a lot better! LOL

We call ours the Gremlin..and it has to be hooked up to a computer to get all set up..and it takes quite awhile. We used ours the other day to find some out of the way antique shops.
Still sounds like an adventure..speed of light:)

Gail,

These picture came out pretty good for driving across 40. I was so concerned you mentioned heading out the night the last severe storm/tornado came through I had to call you to say don't head that way. I'm glad you left a little later, and the road was clear.

LOL, boys and their toys!
It must have been very sad to see the destruction in Oklahoma.
Can't wait to hear more of your adventures.
Thank you so much for your kind words for Bridge.

Yay, Garmin!! You've done it again!

We're going by the Grand Canyon. Probably we'll see the Griswald Way.

LOL!!! The only fights that my hubby nd I ever got in on a drive trip was over the directions that "Christine" gave us...She never matched the paper maps...so you HAD to pick who you were going to follow - me with the map or Christine who was outdated...

A Griswold vacation...fun memories in the making!

I can never figure out our GPS! It usually ends up just making me mad! Hubby seems to have no problem with it though.

Enjoy your trip and safe travels!

Sounds like a bit of "peddle to the metal" for you!

A GPS only used as a speedometer? Oh my! And I suppose your husband doesn't stop to ask directions, either! Hahahahaha! Oh I bet you have a TON of stories to share with us! I hope your husband makes it back with you from the trip. :)
