Max And The Cat

Midsummer Night's Melancholy by Michael Sowa
The dog watching from across the alley only wanted to play
but the cat, being a cat, kept himself turned away
window to window Max took the leap
safely landing on his feet
but the uppity cat just ran away

that is a beautiful dog and I like this poem.. glad the cat got away and the dog did not fall. i do have to say that photo does say melancholy perfectly... i think it is the lonely can of food on the floor that makes it feel that way and a cat longing to get outside and a dog all alone... that is what the photo made me feel

nice take on the image!

The dog's idea of play is not the cat's idea.

Another great poem. This one reminds me of Millie and how she cozies up with Kiki Dee through the french door window or even the screen. She thinks, I love you Kiki. Come play with me. Old Kiki is saying, Come any closer and I'll scratch off your face.

Wanting doesn't always manage to guarantee getting.
